Jug Face (2013)

Posted on October 18, 2024September 20, 2025 by Kev

A community of forest rednecks worship a hole in the ground, filled with magic dirt that they use to make magic whiskey jugs that look like villagers that the ditch god wants to eat. In the bottom of this hole is some muddy water that tells them what else they gotta do. It’s folk horror for people who like mud.

Fucking forests, man. Those places should just be bulldozed!

A girl goes off to aardvark her brother in the woods, then comes back to discover she’s gonna get married off to Cleetus McToothache Tubbybuttons. Man! Now she ain’t gon’ be able to bang her brother no more! Now don’t THAT just put a hitch in yer git’along?

Right away, Ditch God eats someone. Oops! But how can that be? The magic jug-maker ain’t made no lady-face jug for ditch god to eat. Sumpin’ t’ain’t right, I reckon!

Mud-puddle-monster gits hisself right and has a new jug made, hooray an’ tarnation! A new villager gosta git killt! That’s the pact they made, dirt-hole-jesus gets to eat villagers every now and again and in exchange the divine hole in the dirt will keep everyone from getting the flu. So let’s get to slicin’ up Jed Jeddy Jethro-Bob so we’s kin has us a decent mud harvest!

Dang, that din work! The main protagonist, the brotherfucker, does something that makes the ditch angry, and the whole (hole?) village suffers until she up an’ figgers out how to hornswaggle the village or MudGod or both!

Very watchable hillbilly horror. I enjoyed it. Mido slept through it.

New reviews are posted periodically on Saturdays, and every day throughout October
