Saint Maud (2019)

Posted on November 16, 2024October 25, 2024 by Kev

A recently-Jesused-up English girl goes to work for a sick and dying famous lady. Maud, that’s the girl (you could have guessed by the title of the film, but I’m not judging you), is super religious, prays all the time, punishes herself in all those religious self-harm sort of ways, and then has spontaneous Godgasms. She’s a mega-religious chronic masturbator, basically. Kinky.

Maud and the dying lady form a bit of a bond, but then they have a falling out. Maud consoles herself by getting drunk, having joyless sex with two strangers in a bar (not at the same time, mind you – she’s a godly woman. There was at least a couple hours’ time between them), then plots her revenge.

You know that strange lady who walks around town in a dirty toga, claiming to be Jesus? Think of this as her origin story. Slow burn that never gets all that hot, it’s a horror movie you can watch with all your sophisticated friends who don’t like horror movies.

New reviews are posted periodically on Saturdays, and every day throughout October
